Xbox Tavern’s Ones To Watch: November 2024

Each month, we pick out a list of games that we think are worth keeping an eye on. Big AAA or small indie project, it doesn’t matter to us; if the game looks interesting it’ll be in this list. Have your own anticipated title for the month? Let us know in the comments below!

Nov 20th:
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl – GSC Game World

Real world war has put S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 on the back foot for some time, with the team understandably having more important things to deal with. After several delays though, the game is – against all odds – coming out this month, and a round of previews in recent weeks have been mostly positive. We played a little of the original back in the day (and of course they are all on Xbox now too), but this has us intrigued not just in solidarity with the devs in getting done under extreme circumstances, but also because it simply looks like a great videogame. We don’t have long to wait to find out, and it coming to Game Pass day one means we have little excuse not to jump in and play.

Nov 19th:
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 – Asobo

It’s a hell of a niche, but we’d be lying if we said we weren’t at least intrigued by the new Flight Simulator. There’s something appealing about exploring the planet from the digital skies and while we’re mostly going to fly over our house and favourite holiday destinations, the improvements to game play and fidelity in the simulation might cause us to broaden our horizons. Increased surface level detail sounds great, and a host of missions to tackle outside of simply flying from airport to airport could prove to be the hook the game needs to bring in more casual players.

Nov 7th:
Empire of the Ants – Microids

Strategy games often involves militaries, guns, aliens and other fantastical stuff, so Empire of the Ants immediately grabs the attention bu aiming for warfare on a much smaller scale. That’s not to say it won’t be tactical – far from it from the looks of the trailers. It’s a very interesting concept for a game, and one we don’t have long to wait to find out how it fares. But also – those UE5 visuals are incredible and if nothing else should be worth a look for alone.

I've been gaming since Spy vs Spy on the Master System, growing up as a Sega kid before realising the joy of multi-platform gaming. These days I can mostly be found on smaller indie titles, the occasional big RPG and doing poorly at Rainbow Six: Siege. Gamertag: Enaksan
