GameSir VX2 AimBox is a multi-platform console adapter that turns your console gaming into PC gaming. Now, there has always been the topic of which is better, controller or mouse and keyboard. As a gamer of both I mainly lean to controller now – even when I play my PC games I am using a controller. But the Aimbox peaked my interest as it is something I thought could never really happen, using a mouse and keyboard on my Xbox! I had my doubts but I was pleasantly surprised.
Now most people have their console by the TV so to use this you need at least a table or something to balance your keyboard and mouse on. Because of this, it’s definitely for someone who wants to test PC gaming and also has the space to do it.

To get started you will need to download the GameSir app. This is easy to use and you can download it from both Apple Store and Play Store. Once you are in, you can connect to the plugged in device and it will pick up any settings you choose to upload or even download the latest firmware.

The app also has easy to read guides on how to set up the device. For key mapping I found that the default keys worked just fine. They know what the common ones are and how it will be defaulted on the PC so you do not need to do much customization when it comes to the layout of key bidding. You can, however, also download other people’s configs via the user sharing option within the app if you are unsure how to set up a certain game yourself or want advice from other people.
You can also customize the lighting on the AimBox from blue, orange, purple and green, or there’s a colour cycle option if you can’t decide which colour you prefer.

As always, you will mainly be using this for FPS on your console to get that added edge but I found it very versatile on other games. The first game I tried was Apex Legends and struggled with the sensitivity quite a bit and struggled to get many kills, but it was still fun sliding around testing it out with a keyboard and mouse.
Afterwards I wanted to try something less fast pace so I played a bit of Rainbow Six Siege, only the PvE mode, but again the sensitivity is what threw me off again, I had to tweak it again so it felt just right whilst playing. It does feel that you need to change it for all the games you will be playing, at least you can sort of set profiles on the app so which ever game you are going to try you can load that profile. I do wish there was an easy to use Xbox app instead of having to download a mobile app to do my configuration. Saying that, the mobile app is easy to use and a well organised platform. They have so many different types of keyboards and adapters you can see why they have made it work so well.
At £49.99, however, I do think it’s a bit on the steep front, especially if you don’t already have a mouse and keyboard and the correct setup for it.
Conclusion
GameSir VX2 is quick and easy to set up and fun to use if you fancy gaming differently. It takes a while to get used to, but you do feel an added edge using a keyboard and mouse alongside better aim assist as it uses the controller style on console whilst playing FPS. However, for me I will continue to use a controller for Xbox and mouse and keyboard on the PC. But for people who want to PC game more but can’t afford a gaming PC, this will be your go to.

I tried two of this and through the 3.5mm audio jack the headset’s microphone was very distorted, useless! I tried two headsets. Anything else worked well but the whole is totally useless with multiplayer games where you would like to communicate with your friends.

Its like cheating…

dose it give more aim assist with controller though?

It should just make things easier to aim seeing as you’re using a mouse instead of a thumbstick. I reviewed the first iteration and it worked great for first person shooters but not so much for things like twin stick shooters

It just is cheating
