When Ninja Theory launched Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice it wasn’t on my radar back in 2017. As the months went on, I kept hearing about how good this was. I decide to jump in and all I can say is: Wow. Hellblade may have been little clunky when using your controller, however what they did with the audio and the writing was pure genius.
Cue the Game Awards 2019, and the first look at the Xbox Series X and – out of nowhere – Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. With stunning looking next-gen graphics, parts of the trailer almost came across as though it was live, cinematic action.
If Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II can capture the same magic as the first game, combining those stunning visuals with a storyline to keep us entertained, then this could be the exclusive game Xbox owners are looking for!
If you haven’t played Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice – why not? It’s on Game Pass, (the best deal in gaming) so there’s no excuse. Justmake sure you put your headphones on as the binaural audio work really is what makes the experience.
Taking a leaf out of Ian’s book (plus. in case Senua’s Saga doesn’t make it this year), I also have a second one to mention…
Gotham Knights is the game on my radar and possibly the only one I am really excited for! Let’s quickly get one thing straight, this isn’t set in the old Batman game’s universe.
With Bruce Wayne and Jim Gordon dead, it’s left to the Red Hood, Batgirl, Nightwing and Robin to keep the streets of Gotham Safe from Mr Freeze’s evil plan, with a mix of open world, action RPG to help you along the way.
The visuals and style reminds me of the Arkham series however Rocksteady are not developing Gotham Knights (instead they have the mantle of the Suicide Squad game which is set in the same universe as Batman games and set for a 2022 release date).
I am hoping when Gotham Knights releases its gives me all the super hero goodness, without the feeling of being let down that Batman isn’t playable.
