The eb and flow of the game is broken up in various ways to hide potential repetition of fighting. You have mini games like Toadshambo (Rock, Paper, Scissors), moving your icon across moving objects and connecting the circuit board as well as being the Toads in their day jobs.
I was really disappointed to learn there is no online co-op added to Battletoads. I feel this would of made an awesome addition to a very good game, especially as it’s free to everyone who has Gamepass. Locking the co-op behind local play could have a detrimental effect on the game long term
Conclusion
Aside from the lack of online co-op, Battletoads is put together beautifully, with tremendous hand animated graphics, well written and witty storyline, and tight controls which made me very happy as I was fighting my way through the enemies.
