Xbox Tavern’s Ones to Watch: March 2025

With February out of the way, we finally have a little bit of breathing room to play catch up on anything we missed in the month packed with huge RPG’s every week. From Avowed, to Kingdom Come Deliverance II, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, and the glorious Monster Hunter Wilds, there is a lot to get to. However! March isn’t without its own highlights, and would you look at that; a little list of such is right below this text.

March 20th:
Assassins Creed Shadows – Ubisoft

Easily the biggest of the bunch this month (after a delay out of Feb), AC Shadows is Ubisoft’s big gamble for 2025. The last entry, Mirage, left some players less than impressed with what was supposed to be the start of the revitalisation of the franchise. Shadows runs the risk of trying too hard, but early previews and showcases at least look far more promising. Focusing heavily on stealth rather than action is a great start, though the dual protagonist’s mean we still get a dose of both styles in play. We’ve got a few lapsed AC fans on staff here, and we’re all very keen to see how this one fares.

March 6th:
Fragpunk – NetEase Games

Revealed as part of Xbox’s showcase last year, Fragpunk is (yet another) FTP hero shooter, the twist here being the power-up cards that alter players abilities. We must admit to being a bit soft on this one – do we really have time for another live service title – but we can’t deny the style and ideas are pretty cool on paper. With just a few days until launch, it’ll be interesting to see the reaction to this and whether it’ll be yet another one for the scrap pile, or can actually challenge the big guns for the long haul.

March 6th:
Sorry We’re Closed – Akupara Games

Bit of an oddball one here, with neon-soaked survival horror that looks very intriguing indeed. Taking classic survival horror elements and mixing it with arcade-style shooting is like music to our ears; look out for impressions on this one for sure.

March 11th
Wanderstop – Annapurna Interactive

Look. If you tell us the creator of The Stanley Parable is involved in something, you instantly get our attention. That this cozy tea shop title where we play a fallen adventurer as she gets by serving tea to other adventurers as they pass by. the trailer above looks very sweet, but the initial reveal hinted at a darker, more sinister aspect that we’re very keen to see. We’d expect nothing less.

I've been gaming since Spy vs Spy on the Master System, growing up as a Sega kid before realising the joy of multi-platform gaming. These days I can mostly be found on smaller indie titles, the occasional big RPG and doing poorly at Rainbow Six: Siege. Gamertag: Enaksan
