Super Destronaut DX 2, developed Petite Games and published Ratalaika Games, is a retro Space Invaders-style shooter brought to life with a dash of modern day goodness. Shoot em ups have a special place in my heart from my youth when I was growing up; playing the likes Defender, Galaga and R-Type were always fun and super frustrating all in one. Before I hit a massive side track lets get back on track and talk about the game.
You have 2 main modes to choose from when playing Super Destronaut DX 2. Challenges host 6 worlds each with 5 missions to complete before moving onto the next stage, totalling 30 missions. Then we come to Arcade Mode, which has 5 different challenges like Classic Mode, Time Attack (kill an enemy for more time), Time Rush (lose your multiplier if you get hit), Bullet Mode (set number of bullets) and Hardcore Mode (do I have to say more?) Movement is fluid, with you being able to move side to side, up and down and any way your controller will allow you to move.
Some nice added mechanics include a slow down button that will, well, slow time for you to move more precisely and fire you gun at the same time, as well as a power up when enemies are killed and getting a warning when a ship is about to fire at you.
Conclusion
All in all, Super Destronauts DX -2 is a fun, retro style shooter that will offer those looking for a classic high score challenge plenty to enjoy. Some easy achievements are the icing on the cake, naturally, but this is one game that makes getting that 1000g enjoyable at the same time.
