We previously have seen the dog and bunny duo make their remastered return In Sam and Max Save The World at the beginning of this month. Sam and Max are back again this time going beyond time and space itself in season two of their episodically remastered adventures. Although season two doesn’t compare to season one it’s great to relive the golden days of Telltale Games in this classical remaster.
Same as in Season One, in Sam and Max Beyond Time and Space you follow freelance police officers Sam – an old-fashioned hound dog, and Max – a bunny who is absolutely psychotic and bunt. To save everyone from spoilers I’ll give a general idea of the plot of the game. Sam and Max receive a call from the police commissioner with a case to kick off the episode but with every case, there’s some sort of connection to one another. Whatever that connection is Sam and Max are always going on some Bizarre trip. To put it into perspective, in one episode you could be spending the majority of it in the office’s neighborhood, and in another, you’ll find yourself in Hell.
Compared to the game that came out in 2007 this remaster does an amazing job in giving this game a fresh new look. Beyond Time and Space receives a whole graphical overhaul which includes character models, background scenery, and the various items you can interact with within the game. Some other noticeable changes are the addition of new soundtracks. New camera angles and an improved user interface give the game a fresh and slick new look. The biggest change in the new addition is the actual voice actors themselves. Bosco’s Voice actor changed from Joey Camen to Ogie Banks. Although I still give Banks credit for filling in the role Sam and Max’s lovable paranoia-induced character, the reasoning behind the recast of Bosco is because the team didn’t feel comfortable re-releasing the game with a white voice actor doing a stereotypical impression of a black man.
Sam and Max still is, in my opinion, a humourous game, however, most of the jokes in this game are outdated referencing celebrities and famous icons that some people now these days have never heard of.
The gameplay is comparable to past versions of the game and didn’t receive many changes. While still keeping the point and click aspect alive players now don’t use a cursor to interact with certain things, instead, they can scroll using the thumbstick. Sam and Max Beyond Time and Space is majority a puzzle game. There will be times where the solution is obvious and others where the answer is outright impossible to notice, this game will require patience as you play through its five episodes.

Conclusion
A round of applause is needed as Skunkape did a phenomenal job with giving Sam and Max a makeover while still keeping that original charm. Original fans will still get a kick out of the many new changes while at the same time introducing the game to a whole other generation.
