PowerA Xbox Series X/S & One Wired Controller – Core Blush Review

Manufacturer: PowerA
Where to Buy: Argos (UK exclusive)
RRP: £24.99

PowerA have players covered for controller needs, from the sparkly to the shiny, to mobile and high-end, but they’re not resting on their laurels. While the pads linked there all have varying degrees of features (and prices), they’ve not omitted those who just want something cheap and cheerful, sans some of the more hardcore player needs.

The PowerA Xbox Series X/S & One Wired Controller has been a great choice for those in the market for such a thing, and recently PowerA released the Core Blush version (available exclusively at Argos in the UK). My youngest daughter was especially keen to use it simply because of the pink colouration, and when I’ve been able to get to it, it’s proven to be a surprisingly great pad (even if I’m used to the bells and whistles of more expensive fare these days).

There’s no back buttons, trigger locks, or indeed any customisation here. Instead, it’s as simple as plug and play. The controller feels great in the hand, the smooth plastic surprisingly comfortable to hold. As it’s a wired pad, the weight is on the lighter end of the spectrum too – great for younger hands. Buttons are snappy and responsive, and I was really pleasantly surprised with the strength of the rumble feature.

The 10ft cable feels sturdy, a thick plasticky finish that folds up nicely and can be held in place with the attached velcro strip. It detaches from the controller too which always helps reduce risk of breakages.

At £24.99, there’s really not much going against the controller here. Again, the market out there is huge in terms of options, and if like me you prefer a few extra bells and whistles then you’ll need to look elsewhere. But for those just looking for something to get the job done cheaply – but still with high quality – then this controller (in pink or otherwise) should absolutely be on the shopping list.

Conclusion

Simple, well made controller goodness from PowerA here. No bells and whistles needed, just a solid pad that comes in cheap, but doesn’t skimp on quality.
