Breakneck City Review

Brawler Breckneck City tries to transport you back to the days of the very cool arcade cabinet era. With their retro-style graphics, very cool looking cyberpunk colour palette and of course the side-scrolling level movement this should be on everyone’s list of games to play.

I found my time playing Breakneck City very enjoyable as I punched and kicked my way through the levels. There are a few niggles with the gameplay however, for example, timing hits can be frustrating – I’m sure it’s not my button-bashing technique. Butwhen you punch someone into a bin there’s a sense of pure joy.

Audio-wise it’s a massive letdown. The same dull music as you progress was boring, to say the least. To add to the letdown, when you land a punch or kick the sounds for me didn’t really pop.

Conclusion

It might not be the best brawler out there but Breakneck City was still decent fun for the time I spent with it. Combat is surprisingly satisfying while the levels have more freedom of movement than I expected. The music and audio can safely be ignored though.

Gaming used to be about playing Championship Manager ,but then I was introduced to consoles and I fell in love with Xbox 360. Xbox has always been my console of choice. Catch me on Apex or Call of Duty. Gamertag/Twitter: Chocolatebear80
