THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV Review

It’s been six years since the world has seen a new KOF title released in the series. THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV reignites the seaa with the sole purpose to go above and beyond its previous titles and give everything that fans want when it comes to a perfect fighting game, whether that’d be pertaining to the gameplay, characters, graphics, or most importantly, online play.

With this being the 15th instalment of KOF in the franchise, the title is bound to not only have veterans return, but new players as well. Unfortunately with that in mind people who aren’t familiar with the KOF will most definitely find themselves lost within the story and have no clue what’s happening, and yes I am one of those people. I actually had to do a little research on the lore to get an understanding, which feels like an unnecessary chore.

KING OF FIGHTERS XV is a fighting game that I’d consider to be very beginner-friendly. The title has a practice mode where you can learn a specific character’s move-set and abilities and it allows you to freely change characters whenever you want, so there are no long pesky load times you have to sit through.

When it comes to online ranked matches, KING OF FIGHTERS XV takes player disconnects very seriously implementing a fair play system. If you DC too many times your bar will begin to drop.

Graphically, KING OF FIGHTERS XV is gorgeous as the colors from the stages, characters, and moves are all so bright and clash well with each other.

Conclusion

KING OF FIGHTERS XV may not be the best game when it comes to the story but the fighting aspect fills those missing holes. Being able to feel this excited about a fighting game almost feels unreal in a way. With my little experience with the genre, KING OF FIGHTERS XV makes me want to improve in every way that I can. The fluidity of the combat, the strategic big brain plays, the beautiful and handsome character designs, it all comes together and shatters all my expectations I had going into KING OF FIGHTERS XV and I look forward to putting more countless hours into the game.
