June 2025 Games To Watch

Mindseye – Build a Rocket Boy/IOI

Well, with the recent delay of GTA VI to 2026, we don’t think it’s unreasonable to have focus shifted to Mindseye; after all, being helmed partly by former GTA creator Leslie Benzies meant this already had eyes on it, but now the pressure seems to have magnified. A recent round of previews were…less than glowing, and despite claims this may be a deliberate choice on behalf of other actors, we can’t deny that that there’s an element of jank evident even in the official trailers. And a lot of explosions. Being paired with BaRB’s attempt at the Metaverse Everywhere in a weird about turn for how this was all supposed to be integrated at the last minute, we’re intrigued but not overly hopeful that this will be worth the wait.

The Alters – 11bit Studios

11bit Studios are known for excellent, deep survival titles like Frostpunk, and The Alters takes this concept in a new direction; rather than being an omnipotent being controlling the lives of many, we more directly control the life (well, still lives) of one guy – Jan Dolski. Waking up on a strange planet after the exploration vessel he was on experienced a catastrophic problem, he must survive by mining for minerals and metals, and eventually bolstering his base with alternate versions of himself. These different Jan’s have unique life experiences and skills, and so they must all work together to get off of this planet, but that may not be as easy as it sounds. Ever felt like you’d get more done if you just did it yourself? Well, imagine having dozens of yourself to help, but everyone has their own opinions on how to get the end result? We’re very keen to see more on this soon.

REMATCHSlowclap

Slowclap follow up the thoughtfully paced Sifu with a bit of 5v5 football action. Early beta tests seem pretty positive, and taking a more arcade approach to the game gives it a feel not unlike Rocket League in the pace and flow of matches. Coming the Game Pass day one, we’ve got a few on the team ready to jump in and see how it holds up to more traditional footballing fare.

I've been gaming since Spy vs Spy on the Master System, growing up as a Sega kid before realising the joy of multi-platform gaming. These days I can mostly be found on smaller indie titles, the occasional big RPG and doing poorly at Rainbow Six: Siege. Gamertag: Enaksan
