Game of the Year 2025 – Jamie Collyer

It’s that time of year again where we look back the year that was, and think about what games really spoke to us. We’ve a few of these lists going up on Xbox Tavern and Gaming Tavern’s YouTube page, and you’ll be surprised by the variety in choices. Very few games come up more than once, and each person’s list is a snapshot of why the gaming landscape in 2025 – despite some very obvious issues with AI, war-mongering and more – is incredibly strong in terms of variety and quality.

Have a great Christmas and New Year all, and we’ll see you back here in 2026!!

I've been gaming since Spy vs Spy on the Master System, growing up as a Sega kid before realising the joy of multi-platform gaming. These days I can mostly be found on smaller indie titles, the occasional big RPG and doing poorly at Rainbow Six: Siege. Gamertag: Enaksan

  1. Eternal Strands did make my list!

Glad you liked it so much. But for me the reason it scored lower is that a lot of the tasks got repetitive and the story was very tedious to skip through.
